Battery Safety Pioneers: Advancing the Safety of Electric Vehicles

Collaborating with Global OEMs for a Safer EV Ecosystem

As the global automotive industry accelerates toward an electrified future, ensuring the safety of electric vehicles (EVs) remains a critical challenge—especially when it comes to the fire risks posed by lithium-ion batteries. Recognizing these concerns, Battery Safety Pioneers is leading the charge in EV safety with its pioneering technology.

At the heart of Battery Safety Pioneers’ mission is a commitment to protecting lives and assets through proactive battery safety solutions. Our technology is the industry’s most comprehensive early warning solution, uniquely capable of detecting all major types of lithium-ion battery failure—including thermal runaway precursors that other systems miss. This game-changing capability empowers EV manufacturers to act before a critical event occurs, significantly reducing fire risk and increasing consumer confidence.

Rigorous testing confirms that our system reliably provides 2–30 minutes of early warning prior to a thermal runaway incident.

Battery Safety Pioneers works closely with top-tier automotive OEMs around the world, integrating sensors directly into their EV battery packs. This collaboration ensures that safety is embedded at the design level—not retrofitted as an afterthought.

Our sensors are engineered for seamless integration:

  • Control board-mounted configurations offer system-level visibility and integration with battery management systems.
  • Packaged sensor units come with built-in connectors for seamless integration into your battery pack.

By equipping EV platforms with our advanced detection technology, Battery Safety Pioneers supports OEMs in meeting stringent safety requirements, advancing sustainable mobility, and achieving their electrification targets without compromise.

Battery Safety Pioneers is the latest business formed by Nexceris.

Battery Safety Pioneers incorporates advanced off-gas detection technology originally developed by Nexceris in 2010, following a U.S. Navy contract to investigate the causes of a catastrophic lithium battery fire. This groundbreaking research not only deepened the understanding of battery fire dynamics but also earned Nexceris recognition at the ARPA-E Annual Innovation Summit in 2017.

The name Battery Safety Pioneers is well deserved—reflecting our long-standing commitment to innovation and education in battery safety from the very beginning.
